In-Clinic Diagnostics

When pets are sick and not feeling well, it is important to gather as much information about their health condition as quickly as possible in order to start treatment right away. For this reason, Animal Medical Clinic maintains a complete in-clinic diagnostic laboratory equipped with the latest technology that allows us to get results quickly and accurately.

Our in-house diagnostic capability enables us to conduct serum chemistry, hematology, serology, urinalysis and parasite testing, and get the results within a matter of minutes. This quick turnaround time means that we can provide a diagnosis and treatment quickly and accurately for critical cases or patients with injuries. Other in-house tests include ear cytology, skin scraping, feline leukemia, and testing for diabetes. We are also one of the few clinics in the area that has a VETSCAN Imagyst machine that detects parasites through a fecal examination, prints out a report, and provides a picture of the parasite. Should your pet need any specialty testing, we routinely overnight samples to outside labs.

Bloodwork and other tests are necessary because they provide crucial information about your pet’s overall health. Physical examinations alone do not provide a complete picture of an animal’s health condition. For this reason, as well as the fact that animals are very good at hiding signs of illness, we recommend annual checkups and bloodwork. This regular collection of data gives us a history of your pet’s health status and helps us recognize any changes that could indicate the early onset of disease. Catching a disease in its early stages gives your pet the best chance of recovery.

We want to keep your pets healthy and happy from their puppy and kitten stage to senior years. Animal Medical Clinic provides diagnostic services to furry friends in the Tri-Cities area as well as nearby Elizabethton, Gray, and Blountville.
